The room was warm, but so was the outside.
So much for Christmas in California. Not as many people wanted to sit down to a hot meal on a hot day as in years past. This year's count was 120 people at St. Francis Soup Kitchen, down from 180 the previous year.
But, said Director Richard Crowe, that's sort of the goal. Not to have hungry people that need free food. However, it was there if they wanted it: salads, pizza, soup, cakes, all served with a friendly atmosphere and great music.
"I really love this," said one man, who asked that his picture be taken. "Thanks."
