Roaring Camp Starts Chanukah Train

The first run will be Dec. 1, the fifth night of the Jewish holiday.

It's been a while since there was much public celebration of Chanukah in Santa Cruz. The Menorah that was lit under the town clock is gone, a result of lean times.

Roaring Camp Railroads, which has a host of holiday trains, now has one for Chanukah, that includes a Menorah lighting and food by the orthodox religious group, Chabad by the Sea, which has information about the holiday here.

Tickets are $28 for adults and $22 for kids for the 5 p.m. journey.

Here's the release:

Gather at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on the 5th night of Chanukah for the lighting of the menorah and then set off on an incredible train ride in Roaring Camp’s comfortable excursion cars adorned with thousands of shining lights and Chanukah decorations.

We’ll share in Chanukah traditions and ride the train through the streets of Santa Cruz listening to Chanukah stories, playing dreidel and enjoying kosher refreshments provided by Chabad by the Sea. Evening also includes your choice of mini golf, laser tag or arcade games.
