If you’ve never participated in a RAKU firing before, local ceramic artist Dan Hennig leads visitors on this great fiery adventure. At the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center, we’ve got heaps of bisque-fired pots, ready to glaze and fire in the Raku Kiln. The process takes 45 – 60 minutes and results in some spectacular metallic colors forming on the surfaces of the ware. Come join us in this exciting adventure. All ages welcome to participate, but children under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult. (Thanks!) Saturday, May 12, noon - 6 p.m.
At this FREE Open House & Mother's Day Sale Event, enjoy some refreshments and see what’s new and coming up at the Art Center – great classes, Summer Art Camps for Kids, workshops, the Muir Ramble Trail talk,
Plein Air Painting at Camp Joy – heaps of activities to celebrate May as National Museum Month. And explore our Gallery Exhibition. Over 30 artists display their latest works reflecting “In My Life”. For this day, many artists are bringing in more pieces….find a unique handcrafted gift for that special someone in your life!
Come by and introduce yourself! I'll be there all day, fired up and getting some Art in my Life!
