May is National Museum Month!

County-wide activities offered during May - National Museum Month, by 29 museums & arts organizations. Most events are FREE, and family friendly!

Have you had your ART today?  If you're like me, I know you swallowed your vitamins and supplements...but have you had your dose of art?

May is National Museum Month, and locally there are heaps of art activities happening county-wide, most of which are FREE to attend, enjoy, and nourish your inner soul.   29 local museums and arts organizations formed a partnership in late 2009, "The Santa Cruz County Museums' Partnership", endeavoring to build a collaborative arts environment.   Their latest advocacy outreach effort can been seen on the Community Wall at the Santa Cruz Government Center (701 Ocean Street), first floor, through the month of May.    There's a large map with photos depicting all the participating organizations along with artworks representing our local artists.   An adjoining wall shows/lists many of the activities happening during Museum Month.

Activities Abound!

For a complete listing of all our May activities, please visit the partnership website   or download a PDF document.

Go out and enjoy, participate, hands-on art, entertainment, education and celebrate community!

Museums are much more than art. Here in the Santa Cruz area we have two natural history museums, and several history museums, even a Bigfoot museum. Museums are repositories of knowledge and learning. The collections in museums, even those collections that are not on display, are the repositories of our cultural heritage. We frequent museums to learn more about ourselves.
