Boardwalk Blasts the Neighborhood... Again!

I'm sitting here in my home, on 7th Avenue in Live Oak, listening to a band playing at the Boardwalk two miles away. It's louder than my neighbor's stereo next door. It's louder than the boombox car on 7th Avenue. It's louder than my thoughts as I sit here in front of my computer.

Who decided that a private event on private property for private profit is allowed to disturb the peace of the community for a two miles radius?

Who decided that it's okay for the City of Santa Cruz to license a disturbance of the peace that extends for miles beyond the City boundaries?

Who decided that public entertainment is more important than public peace and tranquility?

In this world of constantly increasing noise, why must we be forced, against our will, to listen to blaring "music" invading our homes from an outdoor, amplified concert? Why are the pecuniary desires of the few given precedence over the right to peace and quiet of the majority?

Must the residents of Santa Cruz City and County sit in our homes with pillows over our ears every summer Friday night so the Boardwalk can make a profit over our discomfort?
