According to police, on Nov. 25, 2012, a land surveyor left his surveying equipment at a job site on Scotts Valley Drive. When the surveyor returned to the site, his equipment, valued at about $9,000, was gone.
The victim placed an advertisement in a local news outlet offering a reward for the stolen equipment. Police said the victim recently received a response from a man, identified by police as Morrison Dean Stanton, 46, of Aptos.
