Attacking Dog Shot by Police; Owner Arrested

Large rottweiler attacks a Santa Cruz police officer Wednesday in DeLaveaga Park.

A man with a history of violence against police officers was arrested Wednesday after his rottweiler attacked an officer searching for illegal campers.

Paul Boulerice, 47, was arrested for violation of parole and for having a dangerous weapon in an illegal campsite.

Officer Ron Inouye, a parks officer with extensive training in dog handling, said he pleaded with Boulerice to call off his dog, but he didn't. Inouye had to use deadly force to stop it from attacking.
