Basement Fire Totals $100,000 in Damages

The Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to a basement fire at 111 Pryce St. a little after 9 p.m. Monday.

The Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to a basement fire at 111 Pryce St. in Santa Cruz around 9:06 p.m. Monday.

Upon entering the residence, fire crews saw fire flowing from the roof and found an active fire in the basement, which they extinguished with hose lines.

Fire crews inspected the area by opening up walls to search for possible areas of fire extension in concealed areas, and the residents were ordered to evacuate, because of the smoke damage.

The fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, was contained around 10 p.m. and is under investigation.

No one was hurt during the fire.
