UPDATE: Dead Cyclist Identified

Police say Zachary Parke, 25, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver

Zachary Parke, 25, of Santa Cruz was struck and killed overnight Wednesday by the driver of a metallic or burgunday Nissan or Infinity, according to the California Highway Patrol

The driver fled the scene and the rider was found by a passing cyclist. The accident occurred some time between midnight and 8 a.m., on Empire Grade Road, south of Heller Drive, police said. 

CHP officers have asked people to be on the lookout for a car that has sustained damage that might be connected to the bicyclist. Witnesses or people with information are asked to call (831) 662-0511 or (831) 796-2160.
