Cal Fire Reports on Friday's Blaze in Santa Cruz Mountains

A fire burned more than an acre of brush in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Morgan Hill on Friday night, a Cal Fire division chief said today.

The fire was reported around 4 p.m. near Croy Ridge and Summit roads in the Mount Madonna area and is estimated to have burned just over an acre of "heavy brush and timber," Cal Fire spokesman Brandon Leitzke said.

Crews were able to contain the fire around 8 p.m., he said. No structures or vehicles were damaged in the blaze.

Leitzke said he did not know what caused the fire, which remains under investigation.
