A 19-year-old woman who was apparently texting while driving had to be rescued from a fiery crash near Twin Lake State Beach Tuesday evening, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Brianna Delaney of Morgan Hill was driving westbound on East Cliff Drive west of Prospect Street around 9:36 p.m. when she lost control of her 2006 Mercury Milan and crashed into a tree, according to the CHP.
The car burst into flames.
The force of the impact trapped the teen in her burnng car. CHP officer Chad Jessee yanked her out of the vehicle through the back seat and extinguished the flames, according to the CHP.
Delaney was taken to Dominican Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries, then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
East Cliff Drive was closed for about 40 minutes to deal with the accident.
