CHP Seizes $15,000 in Narcotics During Vehicle Stop

Three suspects were taken into custody in Watsonville.

During a routine vehicle stop in Watsonville last week California Highway Patrol officers initiated a search of the car and located a stash of crystal methamphetamine inside the passenger compartment. 

Officers first stopped the vehicle about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 near West Beach and Locust streets in Watsonville and interviewed the car’s occupants, Reyes Saucedo Lopez, Maria Guadalupe Gutierrez-Moreno and Veronica Macias Lopez. 

While searching the vehicle, officers found about five ounces of crystal methamphetamine. The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (SCCACT) was called to assist with the investigation. Authorities estimated the street value of the narcotics seized was about $15,000.

All three of the car’s occupants were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine for sale.
