Cops Seek Info On Shooting Into Occupied Vehicle in Watsonville

Watsonville police are seeking more information on a shooting at an occupied vehicle that ended with a car crash late Tuesday night.

Officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision at Shady Oaks Drive around 11:35 p.m., Sgt. David Rodriguez said.

There were also reports of shots heard in the area and four to five people who had fled the scene, Rodriguez said. Arriving officers found an empty black Toyota sedan with several bullet holes, he said.

Witnesses told officers that the passenger of a black SUV had fired several shots at the sedan as both cars were traveling on Holly Drive, Rodriguez said.

The SUV fled the area and the sedan collided with a parked car before it stopped on Shady Oaks Drive where the occupants abandoned the vehicle, he said. Officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle and occupants of the sedan.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Watsonville Police Department's investigation bureau at (831) 768-3350 or leave a tip at (831) 724-3544.
