, home of the locally-famous , was robbed at gun point on Wednesday evening around 9:45 p.m.
According to Lt. Larry Richard of the Santa Cruz Police Department, the suspect entered the store, ordered customers to the back of the store, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash using a small caliber rifle.
Police are still looking for the suspect, described by Lt. Larry as "a Hispanic male, approximately five foot eight, wearing a black sweatshirt with red stripes, jeans, a white hat with a blue bill, and his face was covered with a white bandanna."
Investigations into the robbery continue, and investigators are reviewing the surveillence tapes from that night.
Nobody was injured in the robbery.
It is likely the suspect fled in a car rather than on foot, especially because he fled fast and was carrying a large weapon.
"It's a large gun, it's really hard to conceal them unless you're wearing huge baggy clothing," said Lt. Richard.
This is the first armed robbery recorded at Day's Market, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.
