Deputies Arrest Santa Cruz Man After Finding Drugs at Campsite

John Buck, 22, arrested by Monterey Co. Sheriff at Lake San Antonio on Saturday.

A Santa Cruz man was arrested near Lake San Antonio on Saturday  night after a park ranger noticed illegal drugs near his campsite, according  to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.      

The park ranger was performing campground checks near the south shore of the lake around 11:25 p.m. when he saw marijuana and a white powdery substance at a campsite, the sheriff's office said.

John Buck, 22, allegedly told the park ranger the drugs were his, and the ranger contacted the sheriff's office for assistance, sheriff's investigators said.

Deputies arrived and found cocaine, LSD, marijuana and a prescription drug, according to the sheriff's office. Buck was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamines, and possession of marijuana.

He was booked into Monterey County Jail.
