A large pine tree fell across Graham Hill Road at approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday, downing power lines and blocking both lanes of traffic.
A woman collided with the tree Saturday night but did not sustain any injuries.
The tree remained blocking traffic Sunday morning, and was expected to remain until noon.
Officer Opp of the Highway Patrol said, "We hope it will be gone by around noon. It's on the lines, which makes things a lot messier. If it was just on the road it would be gone by now, but since it's on the lines, AT&T's crew needs to come out."
Downed trees are far more common in the rainy months in the Santa Cruz mountains.
"We usually don't get these in the middle of the summer. It's probably just an old tree on some eroded land. A bird probably just sat on the wrong side of it," Officer Opp said.
Traffic is detoured around the downed tree while clean-up is underway, and will not cause significant delays for motorists.
