Santa Cruz Firefighters were called to a burning structure fire at 714 Cayuga St. Saturday at 8:09 p.m. and they arrived just in time to find neighbors rescuing a badly burned woman.

A neighbor broke down the door of the granny unit and others helped move the unidentified victim across the street, where she was taken first to Dominican Hospital and then flown to Valley Medical Center where they were treated for burns and smoke inhalation.

Four engines and one truck responded with 17 firefighters who extinguished the blaze that did some $100,000 of damage.
