Fire That Destroyed Two Aptos Homes Still Burning in Hills

Two homes and an outbuilding were destroyed in a fire that burned in a hilly, remote area of Aptos early Tuesday morning, a Cal Fire captain said.

The fire was reported at 1:14 a.m. in the 3400 block of Redwood Drive, near The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. No injuries were reported.

Crews have since contained the fire but have not yet controlled it, Cal Fire Capt. Scott Green said at about 7:30 a.m.

Responding agencies included Cal Fire, the Aptos-La Selva Fire Protection District and the Central Fire Protection District of Santa Cruz County.
