Four High-Schoolers Arrested on Gang-Related Robbery Charges

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office arrested four juveniles -- two 15 and two 16 years old --  on suspicion of robbery in connection with an armed stick-up of kids walking near railroad tracks in May.

Deputies said that on May 31 at 4 p.m., three suspects wearing masks and brandishing a gun and knives stopped the three youth at the train tracks at 30th Avenue and Portola in Santa Cruz and demanded and stole their belongings, then fled.

Investigators eventually identified the three suspects, along with a fourth cohort, and on Wednesday served four simultaneous search warrants to collect evidence related to the robbery, the department said.

Deputies later arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall the foursome -- three Soquel High School students and one Delta High School student -- on suspicion of robbery with gang enhancements.

One of the Soquel arrestees is also possibly linked to another recent robbery, authorities said.

Three of the four also face additional charges of attempting to dissuade a witness, deputies said.
