Friends and Family of Bicyclist Zack Parke to Meet Saturday at UCSC

They want to mourn the bicycle messenger and mountain climber and call attention to the police search for his killer.

Friends and family of Zack Parke, the 25-year-old cyclist who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday morning, are gathering near where his body was found Saturday at 2 p.m.

He was found on Empire Grade near Heller Drive.

They will hold a vigil and try to call attention to the hunt for the person who drove off in what police describe as burgundy or mettalic  Nissan or Infinity, according to the California Highway Patrol

The driver fled the scene and the rider was found by a passing cyclist. The accident occurred some time between midnight and 8 a.m., on Empire Grade Road, south of Heller Drive, police said. 

CHP officers have asked people to be on the lookout for a car that has sustained damage that might be connected to the bicyclist. Witnesses or people with information are asked to call (831) 662-0511 or (831) 796-2160.
