Three burglary incidents were reported in the Summit area of Santa Cruz with suspects possibly driving a silver Ford Focus, according to police.
Residents are advised to lock their residences and vehicles, and be on the lookout for a Focus with license plate number 6YNM393, police said.
Two home break-ins were reported Friday on Jensen Road and nearby Outer Zayante Road, said Sgt. Patrick Dimick of the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office.
Entry was gained through an unlocked door in the Outer Zayante case, Dimick said.
The third report was of a burglary attempted Friday at 10:40 a.m. at a home also on Jensen, he said. A male knocked at the front door, and when the resident, who was inside, did not answer, the individual tried opening the locked door, and then went to the home's rear and tried opening a locked door there, as well, police said.
The homeowner told police the man, described as Hispanic or African-American, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot 6 to 5-foot 8-inches tall with a medium build, walked back down the driveway and got into the Ford Focus.
When the resident shouted out to him, he became startled and drove off, police said.
The vehicle may be associated with other burglaries in the Lafayette area, Dimick said.
