Keep Your Eyes Peeled for This Guy and His Truck!
Santa Cruz police issue alert to locals regarding suspect possibly stealing mail and casing houses.
Home video surveillance captured two images -- on two separate days -- of a suspicious individual, whom Santa Cruz police suspect of swiping packages from the porch of a Westmoor Court home.
The Santa Cruz Police Department reports the man actually visited -- or possibly "cased" -- the house a few weeks prior to the theft, and, on one occasion, rang the doorbell and fumbled with a “Is Dave here?” query to the occupant.
The reportedly stolen package boxes were later found discarded on Plateau Avenue, police said. Dates of the incidents were not released.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 20s, with a thin build and close-cropped hair, police said.
His truck appears to be a black Toyota Tacoma Xtra Cab, or similar, with a black utility/tool box in the bed.
Anyone with information on the alleged suspect or the theft incident is encouraged to call law enforcement at 831-420-5800. Or if the individual is spotted lurking in a neighborhood, dial 911, police said.
