Kent, England Police Roll Out Santa Cruz-Founded Predictive Policing

Police in Kent, England say that violent crime has been slashed in a section of the county by 6 percent as a result of a predictive policing model started in Santa Cruz.

According to a story in Kent Online, a three-month pilot plan has been a success.

“Instead of just doing a random patrol where we might come across or prevent a crime, the data tells us to go to a zone which is known to have recent levels of high risk crime and police there,” said Chief Constable Ian Learmonth.

The county joined others in the U.S. in celebrating predictive policing day Wednesday.
