The Santa Cruz Police Department's newest officer, Chris Galli, was sworn in this week.
Galli brings solid experience from two-and-a-half years as an officer for the California State Parks system.
He was stationed in the Mohave Desert, where he honed his law enforcement skills and learned to handle incidents with scarce resources and backup.
Galli comes with a family history of public-safety service -- his father, John Galli, worked for the Santa Cruz PD until 1989.
The senior Galli opened a uniform-supply business, Galli Gear, where Chris worked as a young man.
