Man Arrested for Kicking Officer in the Face

A veteran Santa Cruz Police officer was injured while arresting a man for disturbing campers who had a warrant.

Jesse Parsons, 36, was arrested and when an officer tackled him, Parsons reportedly kicked the officer in the face. Parsons was said to be disturbing campers at the footpath between First and Second Avenues. Parsons has a record for resisting arrest and assault with a deadly weapon. In 2013 he was arrested seven times for theft, burglary and drugs.

The officer is being treated and may need stitches in his face.
