Man Arrested on Main Beach with Handgun and Stolen Car

Seaside security officers called Santa Cruz police at 4:10 am. Thursday after spotting a man walking on the beach with a handgun.

Police arrested James Gray, 25, who was lying under a lifeguard tower with a semi-automatic handgun that wasn't loaded but had a clip that wasn't inserted.

No one was injured in the arrest.

Gray had a warrant and was a suspect in a stolen car case in Salinas. Police said Gray had stolen a car in Santa Cruz and took it to Salinas. It was recovered by police after his arrest.
