Arrest made at Scotts Valley High School after police reviewed texts in a student's cellphone.

A 51-year-old man was arrested in Scotts Valley on Friday after allegedly sending sexually explicit text messages to a high school student, according to police in Scotts Valley.

Officers learned Wednesday that a suspicious man had been spotted at Scotts Valley High on Glenwood Drive. When confronted by a school employee, the man said he was hoping to give a bag of baked goods to two students he knew, according to police.

Detectives investigated the incident and identified the man as Randel Clark Bragg of Scotts Valley. Investigators learned Bragg knew the two female students through family connections and had been sending cellphone texts to one of them.

Police reviewed the student's cellphone and found messages to her from Bragg that contained sexually explicit content.

Bragg was arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of distributing harmful material to a minor for the purpose of sexual desires; communicating with a minor for the purpose of committing a criminal offense; distributing harmful material to a minor and annoying children under 14 years old.
