Media Aids Police in Nabbing Robbery Suspect

A man who tried to rob a clerk on the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue was arrested a few days later thanks to tips from the community

Santa Cruz Police have arrested a 50-year-old Santa Cruz man on suspicion of attempted robbery and kidnapping, for trying to steal from a retail clerk at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

Todd Hazlequist was arrested in his room at Motel Santa Cruz at 370 Ocean St. shortly after midnight Monday. He is in Santa Cruz County Jail charged with both crimes. The kidnapping charge comes from his attempt to hold the clerk in a dressing room. He was arrested without incident.
