Mentally Challenged Man Goes Missing From His Job in Santa Cruz

Deputies hope someone may be able to help locate Donavan Almos.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating a mentally challenged young man who went missing from his workplace in Santa Cruz on Friday.

Donavan Almos, who is in his late 20s, was last seen walking away from his job at Bay Side Center at 2301 17th Ave. around 12:30 p.m., according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

Almos-- who suffers from mental disabilities-- may not appear to be mentally challenged on first contact "...due to his high level of mental activity," according to sheriff's deputies.

Law enforcement officers have been searching for the man at locations where he is known to frequent, such as downtown Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the Capitola Mall, but have been unable to locate him, deputies said.

He is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, and weighs about 190 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair, according to the sheriff's office. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue shorts and carrying a backpack.

Anyone with information regarding Almos' whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at (831) 471-1121.
