Missing Santa Cruz Woman Found Alive, In Need Of Medical Care

Sheriff’s Deputies and the Sheriff’s Air Support Unit located a missing 47-year-old Santa Cruz woman earlier this afternoon on the San Mateo County coastline near Pigeon Point.

On Tuesday night, Caroline Murphy, a resident of Santa Cruz, was reporting missing having been seen last Monday.

Murphy reportedly made statements to family and friends leading them to believe she may intend to harm herself, and information indicated she may be somewhere in a remote area on or near China Grade Road.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to find Murphy’s car, a silver 2006 Toyota sedan.

The Sheriff’s Office Air Support Unit “Air One” was dispatched to conduct an aerial search for the car and spotted the car along the San Mateo County coastline, 15 miles from the initial search area.

“Air One” was able to direct patrol personnel to the location of the unoccupied vehicle which started a ground search and Murphy was located alive, a short distance away on the beach, in dire need of medical attention.

Medical personnel responded.
