Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash

The Saturday evening crash took place on Highway 9.

A man was airlifted to Stanford hospital after a motorcycle crash in Santa Cruz Saturday, fire officials said.

Santa Cruz firefighters responded to the collision on state Highway 9 north of the Paradise Park onramp at 6:52 p.m. and found the motorcyclist unconscious.

The man was treated by medical personnel on the scene, but his injuries were so severe a helicopter was requested. The man was taken to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz and then flown to Stanford Hospital.

Officers from California Highway Patrol and Santa Cruz firefighters remained on the scene to clear the road and investigate the cause of the crash.
