At least one person was killed in a solo car crash on state Highway 1 in Aptos that has blocked one lane along the roadway this afternoon, the California Highway Patrol is reporting.
The crash was reported around 11:25 a.m. on northbound Highway 1 near the Rio Del Mar Boulevard exit, according to the CHP.
The driver involved was reportedly speeding along the roadway's right hand side and passing traffic prior to the crash, according to the CHP.
At least one person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear whether the driver was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
The CHP closed one lane near the scene of the crash and issued a Sig-alert around 11:30 a.m.
