Owner of Three La Esperanza Markets Charged with Failure to Get a Permit

Patricia Vazquez was booked on a $10,000 misdemeanor warrant.

Inspectors arrested the owner of La Esperanza Markets Tuesday. Patricia Vazquez was arrested and booked at the Santa Cruz County Jail on a $10,000 misdemeanor warrant for 12 counts of operating a business without a seller's permit.

The investigation began with the California State Board Of Equalization investigating failure to pay collected use and sales taxes to the state.

The three La Esperanza Markets are located at 341 Ocean Street, 1204 Mission Street, and 2-1400 E. Cliff St in Santa Cruz.
