Pair Arrested With Minivan Allegedly Loaded with Stolen Loot in Scotts Valley

Two Oakland women were arrested Sunday after Scotts Valley police found numerous stolen items in their minivan during an investigation into a rash of recent commercial burglaries, a police spokesman said.

Ayanna Morales, 22, and Deja Lambert, 20, were booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy, Scotts Valley police spokesman Keith Tyndall said.

At 5:38 p.m. Sunday, police received information about multiple burglaries from stores and businesses in Scotts Valley, Tyndall said.

Police obtained details about the two suspects and traced them to a Dodge minivan at a shopping center parking lot at 257 Mount Hermon Road, Tyndall said.

From inside the minivan, officers recovered a vast amount of stolen goods, including baby formula, clothing and jewelry, according to Tyndall.

The baby formula may have been stolen for its resale value, he said. The investigation into the burglaries remains open, according to police.
