Photo of the Day: Sheriff's K9 Officer Retires

Tomi, the German Shepherd who has worked for the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office since 2008, announced his retirement Tuesday.

The dog has assisted numerous organizations, including the DEA, ATF, Homeland Security and the Santa Clara Auto Theft Task Force with building searches, drug finding and finding lost people.

He's assisted in the apprehension of 200 people, according to the sheriff's office.

No word on whether he will retire at 90 percent pay and have lifetime health benefits.
