Police Arrest Man For Burglarizing Santa Cruz Restaurant

A 44-year-old man was arrested for burglarizing a Santa Cruz restaurant on Thursday morning, according to the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to reports of a burglary at Star Bene Restaurant on East Cliff Drive around 7:30 a.m., Deputy Ryan Kennedy said.

After collecting information in the area deputies located the suspect, identified as Mark Eyler, at Twin Lakes State Beach, Kennedy said.

He was found with stolen items from the restaurant worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in addition to several credit cards that were not under his name, according to Kennedy.

The stolen property was returned to the restaurant, Kennedy said.

Elyer was arrested on charges of burglary and theft of financial information, he said.
