Police Arrest Three in Connection With Homicide of Homeless Man

Santa Cruz Police arrested one man Saturday night and a man and woman Sunday in connection with the death of a 51-year-old found in an illegal campsite near Depot Park.

Santa Cruz Police have arrested three homeless people in the death of a homeless man found dead Friday night in an illegal campsite by the railroad tracks near Depot Park.

Arrested on suspicion of murder were Jeremiah Long, 26; Shaelyn Gonzales, 21, and Michael Hudson, 41, all of Santa Cruz.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reported that Long and Gonzales were arrested in 2009 for shooting an air gun on the San Lorenzo bridge. Long, the paper reported, was also suspected of hitting a Trader Joes' security guard with a skateboard in 2009 and spitting in his face after the guard confronted him for allegedly stealing food.
