Popular Thai Restaurant Closed After Fire

Sabieng Thai burned in mysterious fire early Thursday morning.

 A restaurant in Santa Cruz was damaged in a fire early Thursday morning, fire officials said today.

The fire was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday at a restaurant at 1218 Mission St., according to the fire department.

Firefighters responded to find flames and smoke coming from the roof of the restaurant, as well as smoke billowing into two of the three other businesses in the same strip mall.

The blaze was extinguished within 30 minutes and contained to the restaurant, although the other businesses sustained some smoke damage, fire officials said.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, according to the fire department.
