Prowler Alert Issued from Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office

Man possibly connected with child's bedroom break-in suspected in other incidents.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is cautioning residents to be on the lookout for a white male, between 35 and 40 years old with long blond hair, who is suspected of attempted break-ins in area homes -- and is possibly connected to last week's report of a Felton home intruder approaching a toddler in a crib.

On Wednesday, April 23 at 9 p.m., a resident in the area of Russell Avenue and Gushee Street in Felton called deputies after a prowler was reportedly trying to enter a house.

He was described as white, approximately 35 to 40, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt and with shoulder-length blond hair.

A person matching the suspect’s description was seen approximately two hours later in the area of Redwood Drive and Valley Drive in an unrelated incident, officials said.

Deputies believe the suspicious suspect from this attempted burglary may be related to the incident on the same night in which a suspect entered a home on 100 block of Redwood Drive and contacted a 2-year-old child in a bedroom, but fled when the child alerted its parents.

Sheriff’s deputies are conducting an on-going investigation and encourage residents in the area to be on the lookout for suspicious persons and vehicles.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to call Sheriff’s Dispatch at 471-1121 with any information.
