Public Safety Awareness Day at the Boardwalk

The Boardwalk is honoring our first-responders with all-day free rides this Saturday.

The is acknowledging the great job our first-responders do by creating a special Public Safety Awareness Day this Saturday, August 27, 2011.

From 11am to 11pm on Saturday, all first-responders will have free unlimited rides at the Boardwalk. Just bring your official Federal, State, County, or City Identification (Active or Retired) to the Public Safety Officer canopy in front of the Pirate Ship, and you’ll receive a coupon entitling you to the free rides.

First-responders, which include fire, police and emergency medical personnel, put themselves on the front lines of emergencies. They are trained in providing pre-hospital care for victims of emergency situations.

First-responders risk their lives for our safety, and in 2004, the non-profit Fallen Officer Foundation was founded to provide “support and financial assistance to Santa Cruz County first-responders and their families during times of crisis and special need.” All contributions to the foundation go directly to first-responders and their families.

These hard-working men and women deserve their day in the Santa Cruz sun, and what better way to enjoy it than riding the Giant Dipper!
