Santa Cruz Arrest Man For Stabbing Another Through a Car Window

A speedy turnover on a fingerprint at the scene by the Santa Cruz Sheriff's office made for a fast arrest.

Santa Cruz police Saturday arrested a man for stabbing another through his car window last Sunday.

At 6:45 a.m. Saturday police in the Santa Cruz Anti-Crime Team arrested Raul Perez Rodriguez, 35, in a Gilroy motel. He had reportedly stabbed a 26-year-old man who didn't know him, while the man was backing out of a driveway on the 100 block of Bixby Street.

The stabber made gang comments before stabbing his victim in the hand and chest. The victim, a Watsonville resident, has no criminal history or gang ties. He is recovering from his wounds.

Roriguez was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail for attempted homicide with gang enhancements. He had been had been listed in the Santa Cruz Police Department’s Most Wanted this week for domestic violence and parole violations before police linked him to the stabbing.
