Santa Cruz Arrest Four in Friday Stabbing

One of the witnesses found after the stabbing was arrested for the fight that led up to it.

Using video and descriptions from witnesses, Santa Cruz Police have arrested two juveniles and two adults in the stabbing of a youth outside the new Marine Sanctuary Center last Friday.

Investigators have identifed the suspects as being part of a fight, but have not pinned down who held the knife.

Arrested was Tranquillino (Frankie) Ayala, 29, of Santa Cruz; Luis, Cuevas, 21, of Live Oak and a 16 and 17-year-old. All are documented gang members. The 17-year-old was questioned by police the night of the stabbing as a witness.

The victim, who is out of the hospital, told police that the men asked him if he had a gang affiliation and when he said he wasn't, words were exchanged that led to a fight and stabbing.
