Santa Cruz Man, 31, Arrested for Suspicion of Concealed Gun After Traffic Stop

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a concealed firearm in a vehicle in Santa Cruz on Wednesday night.

The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team's gang Task force stopped a driver for a vehicle code violation on state Highway 1 at Soquel Avenue around 10:15 p.m., Sgt. Stefan Fish said.

A member of the task force saw the driver with a firearm that was concealed and later found to be unloaded, Fish said.

The task force found ammunition in the vehicle and learned the driver's license was suspended, according to Fish.

The driver was identified as Santa Cruz resident Esteban Ruiz who was arrested on suspicion of possession of a concealed firearm on his person, possession of a concealed firearm within a vehicle and driving with a suspended license.

Wednesday's arrest resulted in the task force's 19th gun seized by the task force this year, Fish said.

19 guns found thus far carried illegally. And yet Chief Deputy Hart says if elected he won't allow law abiding citizens to have concealed license permits even though extensive background and qualification is required. We know the criminals will vote for Hart; because they don't want their rape, robbery and murder victims to be able to defend themselves!

I would like to see the reasons they were taken because I do know of guns being taken from law abiding citizens and not given back for no apparent reason.
