Santa Cruz Police Department's newest officer -- Scott Freeman -- was sworn in today by Chief Kevin Vogel.
Freeman brings 12 years of experience from the Scotts Valley Police Department, where he worked as a training officer, detective and SWAT team member, police said.
Freeman is an Army veteran where he was a sergeant and served as a Special Agent for United States Counter-Intelligence, and is from the local community. His wife, Ann, teaches English at Scotts Valley High School.
