Santa Cruz Police Arrest Five for Brandishing a Gun in a Stolen Car

Police dogs helped track them after they abandoned the car by the Yacht Harbor

Two men flagged down a Santa Cruz police car at Seabright Avenue and reported a carload of people pointed a gun at them near Beach Street and Riverside Avenue.

As the men were reporting it, the car, a blue Toyota Camry, drove past. Officers Carter Jones and Al Nottingham gave chase. They found the car on Fourth Street, abandoned but still running.

With the help of other officers, the Harbor Police and the Sheriff's department, they found the five men and the gun.

Arrested were Travis Lindsay and Juan Manuel Reynoso, both 18 and from San Jose, and three juveniles, all believed to be in a gang. The car was stolen.

The juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall and the two men into Santa Cruz County Jail on charges of brandishing a weapon and stealing a car.
