Santa Cruz Police Arrest Suspected Burglar With Room Full of Goods

With help from informants, Santa Cruz Police Monday arrested Scott Dean Russo, 39, for a string of burglaries. He was arrested in a room with hundreds of reportedly stolen items, including women's clothing, laptops, sports trading cards, vinyl records, cell phones and hard drives, an the Beach Way Inn, 619 Riverside Dr.

Russo, they say, is the man spotted in surveillance videos carrying off laptops from a computer store on the 300 block of Soquel Avenue in January.

Russo, who has addresses in Santa Cruz and Monterey, was on probation and has an extensive record of drug and burglary arrests dating back to 1992, police said. Most of them were in Monterey and a few were in Walnut Creek and Concord.
