Santa Cruz Police Catch Alleged Burglar Passed Out in his Truck

A passerby flagged down police who found a gun and burglarized items.

Santa Cruz Police arrested a man who was passed out in his truck around noon Saturday on the 100 block of Felker St.

As police went to help the man, they spotted a Glock air pistol under his thigh. In the back of the truck, they found tools, stereo and computer equipment that matched a burglary report from Friday, which officer Dave Albert recognized.

They arrested Paul Van Hook, 47, a transient and charged him with parole violation, possession of a controlled substance, possession of an altered historical firearm and posession of stolen property.
