Santa Cruz Sheriffs Arrest 75-Year-Old Alleged Meth Dealer

A vehicle violation led to meth and cocaine in a Jeep

A sheriff's deputy and his dog arrested a 75-year-old man for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine.

Jack Smith, 75, of Felton, was stopped at Ocean and Pryce streets for vehicle code violations at 9:52 p.m Wednesday. When the deputy's dog, Ari, took a sniff, he registered that drugs were in the car.

The dog found 4 grams of meth and 9 grams of cocaine, as well as a scale, packing materials and $300, deputies said.

Smith was arrested for being under the influence and having drugs for sale.
