Santa Cruz Tightens Up the Coast for July 4

It's become traditional to increase fines and close roads during big holidays. The council will vote on it Tuesday.

Expect road closures and increased fines on the Fourth of July in Santa Cruz.

Basically, police say, the roads around the coast will be heavily enforced, the area around the Yacht Harbor will be closed off except for patrons of Aldos Restaurant and the Chardonay sailboat.

There will be triple fines for violations such as open container, littering, drinking in public places, trespassing, fireworks, illegal parking, noise and discharge of a gun, which will push fines as high as $750-$1,500.
