David Escobar, the Scotts Valley man accused of having sex with two underage girls, pleaded no contest on Thursday to the 12 charges he faced.

Escobar, 42, was arrested by Santa Cruz Police on March 24 for child molestation. According to police, Escobar sent nearly 3,800 text messages to a 14-year-old girl in one month and also communicated with her through Facebook and gaming networks. After news of the initial arrest, another victim came forward and Escobar was rearrested.

Escobar has been in County Jail since that arrest.

According to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Escobar pleaded no contest to 12 counts on Thursday, including statutory rape, child molestation, communicating with a minor for sexual purpose and possession of child

The Sentinel also reported that Escobar will be sentenced to nine years in prison in exchange for his plea. Sentencing will take place next month.
